Finally, some recognition
On getting onto the Big Blue Bus in Santa Monica:
Me: [Puts last of fare into machine]Driver: "You're wearing the right colour tape on your glasses."
Me: "I think you should give me a discount."
Driver: "I agree. You should have asked earlier."
See? I knew it would come up trumps. Maybe if I work it I can get the tape to, I dunno, <dooce caps>PAY FOR ITSELF</dooce caps>.
(Reminds me of a favourite joke, from Bob Monkhouse of all people: "They all laughed when I said I wanted to be a comedian. They're not laughing now.")

How many years has it been since the tape made its first appearance?

Janice: I can't conceive of a reason why you could possibly need to know, other than to make fun, so I'm not going to tell you.

Actually, I just realized that it has been quite a long time, and I wondered just how long. At this point, one can only admire the longevity of this particular fashion statement.

J., I actually can't even remember. Maybe two-and-a-bit years. The scary thing is that there's plenty of the tape left.
